SELECTIVE FOCUS
Whether in a beautiful garden, or a crowded room with busy backgrounds, "separating" the subject(s) from their surroundings can be accomplished optically, using long focal length (telephoto) lenses with a very wide aperture. What might have been a distraction can become an attractive wash of blurred color (or soft grays in a black and white photo). No filters or computer manipulation needed!
